Hi friends! I’m so excited to be pregnant, and really want to document this pregnancy in a different way than I did with Evie. The different seasons of life are so significant – introspective and private with her, and lots of sharing our story and joy with this one. Both times are so sweet to me. My hope/plan/intention this time is to do trimester updates and weekly bump photos! You can read my announcement and story on my Facebook, if you are friends with me.

Often times, you hear people say that you just don’t have time for the second like you did the first. I’m so happy that isn’t true! This pregnancy is different, yes. I think I’m in an even better state now, personally, than I was before. The fire that I went through before I was pregnant really did refine me and prepare me. At the end, there were some ways that I specifically and physically prepared, but most of it was my heart. I am so glad for that. Jesus has made me and this baby through the process, not just the pregnancy. It’s made all the difference!
Physically, I have been feeling pretty great! I haven’t had much morning sickness, besides a few moments here and there (and food aversions). I notice my sense of smell is heightened, which is way cool to me! I told Eric, “It’s the closest humans will ever get to having a superpower!” I’m pretty proud of it. ? Other than that, I’ve been a little extra tired. Taking advantage of Evie’s nap time in a new way – the most important way right now!
I haven’t had super strong cravings for anything abnormal so far. I didn’t with Evie either. Most of the things that have sounded good to me both times have been things that I usually want: bean burritos from Taco Bell (a childhood favorite), a cranberry juice slushy from Sonic (another childhood favorite, which wasn’t available in Washington), burgers, and poutine. A favorite food this time (that I know wouldn’t have set well with me last time) is pepper jack cheese!
I found some good prenatal vitamins yesterday, and need to call midwives this week. Finding the resources here for the birth I want has been challenging. We are making good progress, though! I’m also going on more walks this week, and hopefully in the sunshine! I say that, because I want to be held to it!
I’ll do another update near the end of this trimester, around week 13, and we can compare!
